CUBAN CLUB 2013
New Years Day 1.1.13 – The Flying Squadron Yacht Club, The Esplanade, Nedlands
CUBAN BROTHERS (London, UK)
YACHT CLUB DJS (Melbourne, AUS) . RUSS DEWBURY (Brighton, UK)
STILLWATER GIANTS (Perth, AUS) . DEATH DISCO DJS (Perth, AUS)
EL GINGER MOJITO (Perth, AUS)
The luxury revolution returns! Perth’s premier New Year’s Day event returns for its 7th installment. And in 2013, it’s ALL about the Garden Party.
Think cucumber sandwiches and rolling lawns; croquet while sipping on a Pimms; flowing, colourful dresses and gents in slacks and hats celebrating Mad Men pastiche. Parasols and the fresh scent of flowers in the air; tea parties, flamingos, cupcakes and sunshine. All by the magnificent Swan River.
Then add freshly shucked oysters, refreshing cider on tap, and suave, sophisticated Tanqueray Gin or Ketel One Vodka and what do you get? Perth’s premier New Years Day party, Cuban Club.
ARTISTS ANNOUNCED.
Cuban Club is all about the party, and for the 2013 installment we firmly believe we’ve delivered the finest bunch of party starters ever assembled for this New Year’s Day institution.
Headlining is an act that was always destined to bring the party to Cuban Club, The Cuban Brothers! Returning after their blistering set last year, the Yacht Club DJs simply can’t get enough of playing at our Yacht Club. And Brighton’s legendary funk & soul DJ Russ Dewbury knows a thing or two about playing by the water, so we thought it fitting he makes his Cuban Club debut.
Few Australian bands have had as promising a 12 months as Stillwater Giants, playing events like Future Music Festival and getting regular triple j airplay. And no one knows how to rock a party quite like the Death Disco DJs, so we’ve invited them along to show us a thing or two in 2013. Finally, after an inspired set of smooth Yacht Rock last year, how could we not invite back the one and only El Ginger Mojito.
What a line up! What a day. Don’t miss the Cuban Club 2013 “Garden Party” edition.

Cuban Brothers (UK)
The Cuban Brothers are entertainment personified. They will make you laugh, sing along, cry with joy, shit your pants and shake your booty. Born of the loins of seventies Havana, nurtured on a diet of soulful, sexy tunes and inspired by Cuban historical fact and mythology their fresh approach to live entertainment whips up a frenzy at every gig. Their legendary performance combines music, riotous comedy, and sensational dancing. Taking it right back, The Cuban Brothers launched by storming UK club land with their passionate attitude towards partying and performing. Their unique flavour made nights out tasty again and their rise to fame has been meteoric. From stealing the main stage at Manumission to hosting the NME Awards The Cuban Brothers soon became the most desirable act to book for the coolest live events. MTV were soon hot on their trail and in 2002 The Cuban Brothers started presenting music specials including festival coverage of Homelands and Creamfields, MTV in Ibiza and the MTV Music Awards.
Yacht Club DJs (AUS)
Hailing from regional Victoria, Yacht Club DJs have earned their reputation as Australia's foremost mash-up act. The Ballarat pair has come a long way from good friends mingling at the local, having found their common ground in their eclectic and diverse taste of music ranging from pop to metal and hip-hop, plus a little bit of Australian larrikin. Keeping their fans close, the release of underground mixtapes has lead to sold-out national tours and festivals appearances including Splendour In The Grass, Meredith Music Festival, Falls Festival, Mumford & Sun's Gentlemen Of The Road and many more sample smashing sets across the nation. Not bound by genre, their skilful mixes and carefully chosen edits illustrate each half’s unique tastes, coming together to create an epic party atmosphere. With a clash of anthems, Yacht Club's sets are like tuning into a schizophrenic radio station, dropping songs you heard when you first got drunk off goon.

Stillwater Giants (AUS)
Four lads emerged out of a hazy south western beach cottage into a scorching summer day with nothing but ringing ears, music and surf on the mind. Shoot forward to the present and experience the electric surfie rock that is the Stillwater Giants. Characterised by the brotherhood of dueling guitars and epic three part voice harmonies, the Giants of Margaret River launched their debut 6 track EP in August 2011, rocked out various festivals and supports, and are gearing up to release their second 6 track EP in October 2012. They’ve played Future Music Festival 2012, Margaret River Masters, a bunch of other festivals and supported some great bands; the likes of Regurgitator, Ball Park Music, Last Dinosaurs, New Navy, The Rubens, The Medics, Van She, Parachute Youth and more. Their new single Not Like The Others, is out now!
Death Disco DJs (AUS)
Death Disco have been delivering the goods to hundreds of WA’s most discerning clubbers at Capitol for six years and in the process have become among the best, no-bullshit purveyors of dance floor action in the country. Death Disco’s resident DJs Anton and Andrei Maz, both original members of cult Perth band
Yummy Fur (aka Six Mile High), spend every waking hour searching for those dance floor gems of past and present, classics in the making from the debauched days of Studio 54 through Manchester, acid house, new wave, hip-hop, punk, funk and electro. They have made appearances at Summadayze, Future Music Festival, Good Vibes, Big Day Out, Southbound, Blues n Roots and V Festivals.
El Ginger Mojito (AUS)
Last seen dancing with wolverines in Moscow, now in St Petersburg trying to convince the violent offspring of Rasputin that Boney M did a fair job on their great-great-great grandpa. Nobody is exactly sure whom this musical enigma really is, though there is some indication that in the Gypsy tribes of Romania he travels under the pseudonym “DJ Snuggie”. But one thing is for sure, wherever he goes parties are left in his wake. With participants unsure of what just happened, or how they managed to dance for 12 hours straight losing their voices singing along to Yacht Rock era classics, El Ginger Mojito is guaranteed to draw you in with his musical mystique… and he may even reveal his true identity.
