KOUTA AND THE KING NAMED AS CAPTAINS FOR 2011 RAY WHITE EJ WHITTEN LEGENDS GAME
With Anthony Koutoufides (Vic) and Wayne Carey (All Stars) named as Captains, Kouta and the King will be hoping to lead their team to victory as more than fifty former AFL greats including Jason Akermanis, Glenn Archer, Tony Modra, Mark Ricciuto, Warren Tredrea and Anthony Rocca line up for the State-of-Origin showdown between Victoria and the All Stars in the 2011 Ray White EJ Whitten Legends Game at Etihad Stadium on Tuesday 5 July.
Embodying everything the late, great EJ loved - entertainment, footy and in particular state of origin footy- the Ray White EJ Whitten Legends Game is four quarters of pure entertainment.
With AFL legends still hungry for glory, a couple of local footy heroes seeking glory, a few celebrities, some comedic runners, and umps with a sense of humour taking to the ground, it is game on for a serious cause.
The EJ Whitten Foundation was formed in 1995 to commemorate the legacy of football legend, Ted Whitten, who passed away from prostate cancer. The Foundation aims to increase national awareness of prostate cancer, promote early detection and raise funds for research into the disease.
Prostate cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer, with approximately 1 in 9 Australian men developing the disease during their lifetime. While more than 20,000 men are diagnosed with it each year, early detection can mean the difference between life and death.
Now in its sixteenth year, Ray White are proud sponsors of this event, which has raised more than $1million dollars in support of prostate cancer research to date.
