EVERMORE ANNOUNCES ‘HERO’ TOUR
Presented by Today Network, Radar Radio, Channel V, & MOG
Band to take in more than 30 tour dates across Australia
Evermore have their music bus packed and are ready to roll out one of the biggest tours of their career. A troubadour’s journey around Australia to perform the songs from their brilliant new album ‘Follow The Sun’. Evermore brothers Jon and Pete Hume start the tour in their adopted homestate of Victoria on 17th April before they make their way through enough music halls, band rooms and concert venues to reach anyone who has been loved the recent singles ‘Hero’ or ‘Follow The Sun’, any of the bands many career hits.
‘Follow The Sun’ was just released in October 2012, with the band debuting the new music at a string of stadium shows in support of Maroon 5 and then Matchbox Twenty. This ‘Hero’ tour will now be the first opportunity for fans to hear the triumphant new music on the bands own Evermore terms of a headline show.
Jon Hume said today, ‘It’s the first time in nearly four years that Evermore has toured Australia to this extent, it’s long overdue! Peter and I are looking forward to playing this album live, along with the old favourites such as Running and Light Surrounding You, to audiences all over the country. We’re visiting places on this tour that we’ve never been before!’
Internationally, the band have had some recent massive breakthroughs with the prestigious HBO Network selecting ‘Follow The Sun’ as the music bed for their 2013 new season TV prom that is running across North America. Dreamworks studio have also selected ‘Follow The Sun’ for the trailer of their forthcoming animated feature ‘The Croods’ for the US also.
The band will be heading to the US for shows in July, so the ‘Hero’ tour is the perfect place to see the band before we possibly lose them to allure of the North Hemisphere.
In-depth Biography
New Zealand alternative rock trio Evermore comprised the three Hume brothers: singer/guitarist Jon, bassist/keyboardist Peter, and drummer Dann. Weaned on their parents' record collection (the band's name originates with the classic Led Zeppelin ballad "The Battle of Evermore"), the Fielding-born Humes played music throughout their adolescence, first collaborating under the Evermore aegis in 1999. A year later, they claimed top honors in the annual Kiwi high school band competition Rock Quest, channeling their prize money into their own recording facility, Red Sky Studio. Although Evermore pressed only 300 copies of their 2002 single "Slipping Away," the record earned steady airplay on the influential Australian radio outlet Triple J. The station also backed the band's first Aussie tour, mounted in 2003 in support of the EP Oil and Water. Months later Evermore resurfaced with a second EP, My Own Way, and a tour in support of U.S. rock outfit Brad. When flooding forced the trio to flee Red Sky Studio, they cut their 2004 debut full-length Dreams in Seattle with producer Barrett Jones. The singles "It's Too Late" and "For One Day" were both Top 20 hits in Australia, and after supporting New Zealand pop legends Split Enz on their 2006 reunion tour, Evermore issued their sophomore LP, Real Life. ~ Jason Ankeny, All Music Guide
