RETURNS TO AUSTRALIA IN MARCH

Rob Potts Entertainment Edge, Chugg Entertainment and Foxtel’s Country Music Channel today announced that Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter GRETCHEN WILSON (USA) will return for her first trip to Australia since her brief tour almost a decade ago.

In addition to her already announced headlining performance at the CMC Rocks the Hunter festival on Saturday 15 March, Wilson will perform two exclusive headline sideshows in Melbourne and Brisbane.
Bursting onto the scene with the worldwide smash hit ‘Redneck Woman’ and debut album ‘Here for the Party’, she has lived up to her songs by building a fanbase in love with the unvarnished honesty of her lyrics and raucous onstage energy. In 2013 alone, Gretchen released three albums on her own Redneck Records label: a new Country cd called Right On Time, a collection of 70s Rock songs called Under The Covers and a her Christmas In My Heart holiday album. After hearing from her frequent collaborators Big & Rich about how wild Aussie audiences are, Gretchen can’t wait to bring the party to Australia in March.

Renowned throughout the USA as one of the rowdiest live acts in country music, Gretchen will perform in Melbourne at the Palais Theatre on Wednesday 12 March and in Brisbane at Eatons Hill Hotel on Thursday 13 March, before heading to Hope Estate for CMC Rocks the Hunter on Saturday 15 March.

“Since the release of her debut album, and signature tune ‘Redneck Woman’, I have seen Gretchen’s influence on young female artists in this country,” said promoter Rob Potts. “I’ve seen young girls performing her songs while busking on the street corners in Tamworth and in talent quests across the land. We’re thrilled to be able to tour her and know that many of those young artists will be as excited as we are to see her perform live.”

Joining Wilson on both shows, and also performing at the festival, is Newcastle-born singer/songwriter Morgan Evans. The electrifying country-rocker burst onto the scene in 2007 with his hit single ‘Big Skies’ and has since racked up multiple #1 singles and EPs, with his Nashville-recorded debut album set for release on Friday 14 March.

Tickets to both headline sideshows will be on sale from 9am, Wednesday 22 January.
