GYPSY & THE CAT RETURNS WITH ‘THE LATE BLUE’ ALBUM
AND NATIONAL TOUR DATES

In a short space of time, Melbourne’s Gypsy & The Cat has infiltrated the Australian musical landscape, their debut album ‘Gilgamesh’ naturally and effortlessly making an impact whilst building a strong supporter base globally.  Its successor, the duo’s eagerly awaited new album The Late Blue, will be released on October 19, followed by key national tour dates from October 26.

The Late Blue’s preview track ‘Sorry’ was the first glimpse of what’s to come from Gypsy & The Cat circa 2012 - a sonic melting pot with a soaring infectious refrain.  From this early insight, it moves effortlessly forward, delivering dreamscape ballads with washed out melodies, driving tom-fuelled rock with dance-floor highs, to lazy Nordic grooves with cascading Moogs and liquid tones.

The Late Blue was produced, written and recorded entirely by Xavier Bacash and Lionel Towers and then mixed by the perennial genius of Dave Fridman (MGMT, Flaming Lips) - an album written on the road, referential to the past, recorded in the country, to be played in the city today and tomorrow, and proudly released via their own label Alsatian Music.

It is a body of work that Gypsy & The Cat can feel justifiably proud of, and look forward to exploring on the live stage.  It follows a touring schedule over the last 24 months that encompassed Japan’s Summersonic, Big Day Out, Future Music Festival and Splendour in the Grass, and headline tours in Australia, France, Germany, Switzerland, UK, Denmark, Sweden, and Belgium.  Their five forthcoming Australian tour dates represent the only chance to see the band this year before they head off on a global trek once more – tickets go on sale September 21st.
