Hip Hop & RnB fans around Australia are in for a treat this summer as one of the most iconic duos of the early 00’s; Ja Rule and Ashanti, team back up for the Urban Sounds tour, a series of large concerts in taking place capital cities across the nation January 2017.

The Grammy award winning pair behind some of the biggest anthems of the our time, including platinum selling hits “Always On Time” and, “Mesmerize,” Ja and Ashanti recently linked up once again for a soul-injected ballad “Helpless". The pair's first collaboration in almost a decade, Helpless features on The Hamilton Mixtape album which dropped Dec 2 and immediately rose to the top of the charts, sitting at No. 1 on iTunes.

The King & Queen of Urban Sounds, Ja Rule & Ashanti will be joined by special guests to be announced in each city, including a host of home grown talents rounding out the lineup, as Urban Sounds aims to create a platform to showcase a selection of the best up & coming urban artists in each city.

The former Murder Inc. labelmates had a string of chart-topping songs together over a decade ago, including No. 1 hit “Always on Time” along with “Mesmerize,” which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Ashanti has remained busy since the release of her last album 2014's Braveheart, while Ja Rule, who has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide has been enjoying some reality TV spotlight with his family on their MTV series Follow The Rules.

For millennials, Ja Rule was no doubt one of the most entertaining, hit-making rappers of the early 2000s. For a large chunk of his career, he mastered the recipe of making catchy mainstream singles that some of his rap counterparts could only dream of. Turning 40 this year, Ja Rule has announced plans to retire from the rap game and work on other projects, but with the upcoming release of his final solo album Coup De Grace, landing Feb 2017, fans can expect to hear some new music alongside timeless classics such as “Put it On Me”, “Living It Up”, I’m Real”  and “New York”.
