EMPIRE TOURING PRESENTS: JOE CAMILLERI
45th ANNIVERSARY CONCERT : STATE THEATRE - SATURDAY MAY 15
JOE CAMILLERI is an icon of Australian music and without doubt one of our most lauded singer/songwriters. He has written and recorded an enormous catalogue of wonderful music for an astonishing 45 years.
Last year a very special celebration was held at Melbourne's Palais Theatre to mark Joe's 45 years in music. It was such an incredible night there were immediate calls to stage the concert again - and that has now come to fruition.
Empire Touring is thrilled to announce Joe Camilleri's 45th anniversary concert is heading to Sydney for one historic night at the State Theatre on Saturday May 15. Joe will perform with his current band and will be joined by an array of special guests that have toured and recorded with him along his musical journey.
"As the man who produced Joe's first single & album way back in 1975-ish, the 45th anniversary retrospective he staged did me proud. With his inimitable voice, sax playing, charm & energy undiminished & buffed to a high gloss by experience, a mega night was had by all. I mighta helped him through the door 45 years ago, but he's been filling the rooms all by himself ever since."
(Ross Wilson)
"Joe's 45th anniversary show was a joyous celebration of his long and illustrious career. Joe and a cast of stellar musicians presented all the hits and some choice covers, reflecting Joe's extensive musical knowledge and his passion for rock and roll. I was honoured and thrilled to be there."
(Brian Nankervis, Rockwiz)
"Joe Camilleri's 45th anniversary concert promised to be a celebration of a career remarkable for its versatility and longevity. It certainly fulfilled that promise. The diversity of music on offer considering that it largely stemmed from one source was amazing."

From 1964 to 2010, Camilleri has gigged, written, toured, wailed and shaken it. From Altona to Cooktown, from Oslo to Cannes and all over his beloved hometown of Melbourne, he has shown fans and critics alike a performer with an undeniable energy and love of it all. It is this love, this sense of adventure that keeps Camilleri going and the punters coming back for more.
The Sharks, King Bees, Pelaco Brothers, Adderly Smith Blues Band, The Falcons, Cha Band, The Black Sorrows, The Revelators, Bakelite Radio and many internationals have all featured on Joe's dance
card over the last 45 years. He helped build the Australian pub circuit, watched it collapse to disco and then build again, did festivals before they were in and has always dug the blues and jazz thing.
You might know him as Jo Jo Zep, Joey Vincent, Camo, The Maltese Falcon or simply as Joe. But one thing's for sure - you know him. Joe's incredible 45 year career has enjoyed two chart topping highlights; The Falcons with hits including ‘Hit & Run', ‘Shape I'm In' and ‘Puppet on a String' and The Black Sorrows with ‘Chained to the Wheel', ‘Harley & Rose', ‘Hold on to Me' and a string of others.
Join Joe and a bunch of friends that travelled this journey with him as they play their way through an amazing musician's songbook. Joe Camilleri's 45th anniversary concert will truly be a night to remember.
