Following overwhelming demand from fans to see the gifted singer-songwriter Kina Grannis on her first Australian tour, the Frontier Touring Company is delighted to announce two final dates for fans who missed out on tickets to the sold out Sydney and Melbourne shows.
A 3rd and final Sydney show has been added at the Sydney Opera House - Studio on Friday 23 March and a 2nd and final Melbourne show at Ormond Hall on Thursday 29 March.
Since Grannis began performing via her YouTube channel in 2007, she has captured the attention and love of a worldwide audience. Subscriptions to her channel have steadily grown over the past few years to reach over half a million this year and her videos have accumulated more than 90 million views.
In between writing songs, singing and starring in her own video clips, including In Your Arms which features 288,000 Jelly Belly jelly beans in a stop motion spectacular, Grannis self-released her debut album Stairwells (out in Australia on 16 March through Liberator).
Stairwells has received much acclaim and recognition internationally, debuting in the Billboard Top 200 and peaking at #2 on Billboard's New Artist/Heatseekers chart.
Joining Kina on all shows will be local artist Ollie Brown. Since swapping a uni degree for a six string guitar, Brown has travelled Australia and throughout the world recording and performing the stories of love and travel that he experienced along the way.
With three of the shows on the tour already sold out, tickets for these final shows will surely be in high demand. Don't miss your chance to see Kina Grannis on her debut Australian tour.
In-depth Biography
Pop/rock songwriter Kina Grannis began exploring music as a child in Mission Viejo, CA. After spending her younger years performing for stuffed animals and singing with her sisters, Grannis discovered her aunt's guitar at age 15. She received her own guitar the following year and spent a month honing her songwriting skills, taking influence from the likes of Jason Mraz and Vertical Horizon. Her songwriting efforts continued at the University of Southern California, where she was selected by the Thornton School of Music to produce a six-song EP during her sophomore year. The EP, Sincerely, me., was released in 2005. Two years later, she recorded a song for Rachael Lawrence and Deborah Ellen that became heavily featured in several episodes of General Hospital.
After graduating from USC, Grannis relocated to Austin, TX, to sing and record with a band. She also began uploading her performances to YouTube, which helped her win a Superbowl contest in 2008. A contract with Interscope Records followed, but Grannis returned to indie status shortly thereafter without releasing anything on the label. Instead, she self-released her first full-length album, Stairwells, in February 2010, cracking the Billboard 200 in the process. ~ Katherine Fulton, Rovi
