LAST MAN STANDING

How one woman & Jerry Lee Lewis changed Rock ‘n’ Roll forever

TOUR FROM 24 APRIL – TICKETS ON SALE NOW

Debra Byrne stars in Last Man Standing, a two hour Gospel Rock Opera Concert telling the story of the birth of Rock ‘n’ Roll and one its greatest pioneers, Jerry Lee Lewis through 26 hit songs. Beginning in Albury (24 April), the show will first tour Victorian regional centres before heading to the Arts Centre in Melbourne from 9 May, with a national tour to follow.

Having completed touring commitments with Disney’s Mary Poppins, Debra Byrne is very much looking forward to singing the incredible Gospel songs that morphed into Rock ‘n’ Roll music, aided in the 50s and 60s by Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash and Jerry Lee Lewis. And it is Jerry Lee’s story as the “last man standing” of this talented group of musicians, who started out in Memphis, that will be told over two acts and 26 of the greatest musical numbers from the ‘50s through to the ‘70s.

Internationally known pianist, Dannie Bourne will play and sing Jerry Lee Lewis hits, as well as Nick Barker, an accomplished guitarist and singer and the Austin City Players.

Following his phenomenal success with The Man in Black, Last Man Standing is the brand new show penned by Melbourne producer Jim McPherson.

“There are 26 great hits in the show, including Great Balls of Fire, Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On and songs made famous by Ray Charles, Patsy Cline and Otis Redding,” said Director, Simon Myers. “It is a great opportunity to hear Australia’s legendary chanteuse, Debra Byrne, singing, with a group of talented musicians, the great songs from the era,” he added.
