JAMES MORRISON & DENI HINES
November 10 2011
We welcome to Live at the Quarry Australian multi-Instrumentalist, a guest performer with the world's most prestigious symphony orchestras and national radio bands: James Morrison. He has become a world jazz legend in his own lifetime; is yet to turn 50; and is idolized by fans in more countries than most people can name. Morrison regularly gives live performances and has co-performed and co-recorded over the last 23 years with many of the world's truly great jazz personalities and is respected by all of them for his talent.
Never one to rest on her laurels and always up for a new challenge, Deni Hines made a call to Australian and International Jazz maestro, James Morrison. A meeting two days later at the Hilton Hotel, Sydney airport and the album "The Other Woman" was formalised and recording dates set. Released in August 2007, the album hit the top of the Australian Jazz Charts and Top 30 on the digital charts.
BOOM CRASH OPERA 25 Years Tour with
SEAN KELLY (THE MODELS)
November 17 2011
Boom Crash Opera formed in Melbourne in 1985. Initially based around the songwriting partnership of Richard Pleasance (guitar/bass/vocals 1985 - 1992) and Peter Farnan (guitar/bass/keys/vocals), Boom Crash Opera is now comprised of Dale Ryder (lead vocals), Peter 'Maz' Maslen (drums/vocals), Greg O'Connor (keyboards/guitar) and Ian Tilley (bass/vocals 1992- present).
Boom Crash Opera have always had a transparent recognition of their influences and none greater than Models front man Sean Kelly, a man they have many times attempted to musically clone. Sean Kelly is simply Australian Rock & Roll royalty. Fittingly, in 2010, Sean was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame for his work with Models, Absent Friends and The Dukes. For fans of Boom Crash Opera and Sean Kelly ‐ a night at the picturesque Quarry Amphitheatre filled with entertaining and influential Australian music is not to be missed. Their 25th anniversary tour, 25 Years, is a two hour show with both acoustic and electric performances by Boom Crash Opera featuring all their favourite songs including: Onion Skin, Dancing in the Storm, Great Wall, The Best Thing, and Hands Up in the Air. Not to mention with a few classic album gems thrown in the mix, as well as an inspirational set from their musical mentor Sean Kelly.
THE BLACK SORROWS and
ROSS WILSON (DADDY COOL/MONDO ROCK)
December 14 2011
Joe Camilleri is an icon of Australian music. He has paved the way for four generations of singers and songwriters, writing and recording an enormous catalogue of incredible music over his astonishing 46 year career. In the mid ‘80s following the success of his first band, Jo Jo Zep and The Falcons, Camilleri gathered together a group of musician friends and dubbed them The Black Sorrows. Today The Black Sorrows are Joe Creighton on bass, Tony Floyd on drums, Claude Carranza on guitar and Atlanta Coogan on Vocals.
Ross Wilson is one of Australia's rock idols, and realistically is incapable of making a come back, as he has never been far from the forefront of Australian rock music. Having been inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame as himself, and as a member of the award winning band Daddy Cool, Wilson is a live sensation not to be missed. In order to promote his first solo single, Living in the Land of Oz, Wilson formed Mondo Rock, however after 2 years the project took on a life of its own, experiencing mainstream success until their split in 1990. Ross Wilson has become one of the very few, if not the only, Australian rock legend with a career spanning back to the 1960's, and still able to generate commercial radio airplay with new original songs in the 21st century.
DIESEL
March 16 2012
25 years ago singer-guitarist Mark Lizotte (aka Diesel) finalised the line up for his band at that time in Perth, Johnny Diesel and the Injectors. Within a matter of months they were on their way across the Nullabor, stunning audiences live and heading for a national top 3 album chart debut. The band eventually folded, the "Johnny" disappeared, and Diesel reemerged releasing a string of gold and platinum albums and earned a swag of ARIA Awards (including Best Male). He boasts ten Top 10 albums and more than a dozen Top 20 singles. And after 25 years, just when we thought we knew him, Diesel produces an album that defies all preconceptions. To celebrate his alter ego's silver jubilee, Diesel has cut 15 tracks for his brand new album ‘Under The Influence' — an album dedicated to his musical heroes.

Quarry Amphitheatre
In 1986 Reabold Hill's abandoned quarry, which had not been used for eighty years, was re-opened as ‘The Quarry Amphitheatre'. Surrounded by natural bush land, it offers panoramic views across the city to the Darling Range and provides an ideal setting for intimate concerts to small capacity audiences.
Live At The Quarry was first launched in February 2008, with an inaugural summer series comprising nine concerts in the Quarry Amphitheatre. Following the initial success of Live At The Quarry, which saw Kate Miller-Heidke, Old Man River, Holly Throsby and more play in the picturesque venue under the stars, Mellen Events and Lloyd Events teamed together to present the 2008/2009 season. The season was an overwhelming success, and included the WA debut of Paul Kelly's A-Z as a major highlight.
In fact, every single show in the 2008/2009 season sold out - a feat achieved for the second time with the last season in 2009/2010 - a series that featured memorable performances from artists including Sarah Blasko, Tim Finn, The Church and The Ten Tenors. 2010/2011 even saw Live At The Quarry's first international act, with Cat Power joining a season that also starred Lisa Mitchell, Lior, John Williamson, Clare Bowditch and the memorable double bill of Mark Seymour with James Reyne.
Over the peak summer season at the Quarry Amphitheatre, Live At The Quarry 2011/2012 will once again bring together the finest of performers with fresh local talent to provide the audience with an intimate experience that is quintessentially Western Australian. Gourmet food and award winning Flametree wine from Margaret River will help event goers to unwind on the terraced lawns prior to the performances and make the most of Perth's balmy summer evenings.
