‘The Razzle Dazzle Summer Tour’ Announced For November/December
Video out now for new single ‘Everyone’s Waiting’
As Missy Higgins’ new single ‘Everyone’s Waiting’ zooms up the local charts, the beloved singer/songwriter has announced ‘The Razzle Dazzle Summer Tour’ to weave around Australia through November/December. Very special guests on nearly all of these concerts will be iconic Australian vocalist Gurrumul and Triple J darling, Emma Louise.
Tickets for all dates will go on sale to members of Missy’s mailing list at 9am on Tuesday August 7 and to the general public at the same time on Thursday August 9. The Tour will be presented by MAX and Spotify. “It felt so good to finally get back on the road last June, I can't wait to do it again this time in bigger venues and with two amazing support artists, Gurrumul and Emma Louise,” said Missy. “A lot of the theatres we'll be playing are my all time favourites. Some, like The Palais in Melbourne and the State Theatre in Sydney, I haven't played in over five years so it'll be an amazing way to end the year.
I'll be bringing my Nashville band back again, this time with an exciting new addition or two!” ‘The Razzle Dazzle Summer Tour’ follows Missy’s recent totally sold out tour of more intimate theatres and last week’s US launch of her album ‘The Ol’ Razzle Dazzle’. While in the US Missy also did sold out launch gigs in Nashville, New York and Los Angeles as well as performing ‘Hello Hello’ on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
Her album has received glowing reviews in major publications from People to The Wall Street Journal and this week it entered the U.S. Billboard 200 at #83 – Missy’s highest ever Stateside chart debut and the first time she has made the Top 100 of the Album Chart. Despite it being five years between releases, ‘The Ol’ Razzle Dazzle’ debuted at #1 in Australia following its release at the beginning of June. Thanks to the overwhelming media and public reaction to ‘Everyone’s Waiting’, the album is still in the top 10 two months later.
The powerful video for ‘Everyone’s Waiting’ has just been released. Filmed in Byron Bay it was directed by the ARIA Award winning Natasha Pincus who also created the clip for Missy’s first single ‘Unashamed Desire’ as well as Gotye’s ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’.
Dates and venues for ‘The Razzle Dazzle Summer Tour’ are listed below.
Missy’s special guest on all headlining dates (excluding Perth), is Gurrumul whose unforgettably emotive voice has struck a deep chord with audiences across the globe, and earned him celebrity fans like will.I.am and Sting. Gurrumul’s history with Missy includes a moving duet of “Warwu” at the 2011 ARIA Awards where Missy performed in Gurrumul’s native tongue.
Also joining ‘The Razzle Dazzle Summer Tour’ to open all shows (except Perth and Canberra), is Emma Louise. The Brisbane based indie songstress has ridden a wave of alternative success both here and abroad since the release of her critically acclaimed single ‘Jungle’ from the debut EP ‘Full Hearts and Empty Rooms’. Emma Louise has followed it up with the current single ‘Boy’ which is the first taste of her debut album.

In-depth Biography
With a flair for poignant ballads and pop/rock singles, Missy Higgins became one of Australia's most popular artists during the early 21st century. Her songwriting career began in Melbourne, where she attended boarding school and balanced her time between academics and music. Higgins' sister got ahold of "All for Believing," one of Missy's earliest songs, and mailed a copy to Australia's Triple J radio station without her sister's consent. The song ended up winning an unsigned artist competition named Triple J Unearthed, which effectively sparked Higgins' career as a singer/songwriter.
After signing with Eleven, the same Australian record company used by such homeland heroes as Silverchair, Higgins issued a self-titled EP in November 2003. The Scar EP appeared in August 2004 and set the scene for her full-length debut, Sound of White, which appeared the following September. Sound of White proved to be remarkably successful, remaining on the Australian charts for two years and going platinum nine times. Higgins then set her sights on America, where she made her debut in January 2005 with the domestic-only All for Believing EP. Released through Warner Bros., it included the title track and four other songs cherry-picked from the Sound of White LP (which was reissued in the U.S. shortly thereafter).
Missy Higgins issued her sophomore album, On a Clear Night, in 2007, with an American release following in early 2008. While Sound of White had emphasized Higgins' flair for piano, On a Clear Night featured a new emphasis on guitar, which Higgins had used to compose the majority of the tracks. "Steer," the album's leadoff single, became her second number one hit in Australia. ~ Andrew Leahey & Johnny Loftus, Rovi
