Secret Sounds Presents
MUMFORD & SONS
AUSTRALIA STOPOVER TOUR
‘It just had that vibe. That feeling that something special was about to unfold. Mumford & Sons played a packed out Oxford Art Factory earlier in the year. Tonight they had returned to a bigger and more accommodating venue in The Enmore. A sold out crowd were treated to one of the best gigs I have seen at The Enmore.' - MusicFeeds
Secret Sounds is thrilled to confirm Mumford & Sons will return to wow audiences this October and will play an incredible 10 concerts across major metro and regional venues around the country! Kicking off in Perth on October 13, the band will perform in Adelaide, Brisbane, Sydney, Hobart, Melbourne, Canberra, Cairns and Townsville before their final show of the Australia Stopover Tour on the Gold Coast on October 31. Anyone who has been lucky enough to see them before, will tell you it is guaranteed to be one of the biggest and most exciting nights on the year's live music calendar!
‘Those who missed tickets might have to try even harder to score one next time because the show was fantastic and to the rest of Australia who are yet to see Mumford & Sons - beg, borrow, steal or do whatever you need to because this show is one not to be missed.' - FasterLouder
With ‘Sigh No More' achieving phenomenal global success, Mumford & Sons have had a jaw dropping couple of years since its release in 2009. Having won a Brit and ARIA award and topping triple J's Hottest 100 poll with the astonishing smash hit ‘Little Lion Man', they were also nominated for the prestigious Mercury Music Prize, a swag of Grammys and other notable awards. The good news is the wait will soon be over for fans as their highly anticipated sophomore album set for release in September.
Joining Mumford & Sons at the beginning of the tour in Perth through to Canberra (seven shows) will be American indie-folk ensemble Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. Sounding like how a festival feels, and with a sprawling 12 members on stage - it nearly looks like one too. The group is renowned for their fiery show, drawing their inspiration from the communal musical communities that peppered Southern California (specifically Laurel Canyon) with positive vibrations during the '60s and early '70s. With a new album ‘Here', expect to be on your feet, singing along with arms overhead and sonically satisfied when Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros bring their joyful boho-rock back downunder.
Also riding with Mumford & Sons this October (all ten shows) will be American singer-songwriter Willy Mason. With a sound that combines folk's soft and loose delivery which recalls Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash with an insightful narrative about growing up and finding one's place. The critically acclaimed Mason returns to Australia to premiere songs from his third and as yet untitled album (his first in 5 years!), which includes the first taster ‘Restless Fugitive'.
In addition to these concerts, fans should stay tuned for another big announcement about a special one-off date as part of the Gentleman of the Road series. Details of this unique event will be revealed in the coming weeks. More information on Gentleman of the Road can be found here http://www.gentlemenoftheroad.com/
With music we know and love full with enthusiasm and confidence plus a new album to boot, join Marcus, Country Winston, Ben and Ted this October and bare witness to '...their incredible energy drawing us in quickly to their circle of songs, to the warmth of their stories, and to their magical community of misty-eyed men.' - Sydney Morning Herald

In-depth Biography
Inspired by folk, rock, country, and bluegrass, London-based quartet Mumford & Sons features singer/guitarist/drummer Marcus Mumford, vocalist and banjo/dobro player Winston Marshall, vocalist/keyboardist Ben Lovett and vocalist/bassist Ted Dwane. The foursome started playing together in 2007; though they were playing with other bands at the time, they bonded over their shared love of rootsy music. Mumford & Sons quickly became a part of London's underground folk scene, which included acts like Laura Marling and Noah and the Whale. By late autumn 2007, the band was writing songs and playing shows frequently, leading to a gig at 2008's Glastonbury Festival. That June, their self-titled debut EP arrived, followed by the Love Your Ground EP that December. In in May 2009, The Cave and the Open Sea EP was released; meanwhile, Mumford & Sons signed to Island Records and worked with producer Markus Drays (the Arcade Fire, Maccabees) on their first full-length. That summer, the single "Little Lion Man" became the first taste of their new material; it was named "Hottest Record in the World This Week" by BBC 1 Radio DJ Zane Lowe in July. The group was shortlisted for the BBC's Sound of 2009 Poll shortly before their debut album, Sigh No More, was released that winter. ~ Heather Phares, Rovi
