About

After releasing a surprise collaboration with Spotify Viral Global #1 hit ‘SHELTER’, musicians and longtime friends Porter Robinson and Madeon (Hugo Leclercq) today announce Australian tour dates for February 2017. With over 30 million streams, the single has seen the two friends perform simultaneously on a sold out US tour, and the Australian dates join shows scheduled in London, Amsterdam, Paris, and Tokyo.

The mammoth tour combines the best of their individual catalogues into one interactive performance. Fans can expect live instrumentation, visual artistry and cutting edge technology, with old favourites played alongside newly re-worked cuts.

Brilliant, shimmering, humanity-infused electronic pop ‘SHELTER’ landed at #1 on Japan’s Viral Spotify Chart following the live reveal of the animated short film via jumbotron in Tokyo’s Shibuya District (where Porter was swarmed by enthusiastic fans upon arrival). Since the epic anime video was revealed it has garnered over 6 Million YouTube views and trended worldwide on YouTube and Facebook. It follows 17-year-old Rin who lives alone inside a futuristic virtual reality simulation that she controls through her tablet.  Featuring an original story and characters created by Robinson, who Executive Produced the project, the video was created in partnership in association with A-1 Pictures and Crunchyroll, the global leaders in anime.

‘SHELTER’ is the first taste of new music since Porter Robinson’s album Worlds debuted at #13 on the ARIA Charts, #3 on the Australian iTunes charts and in Billboard’s Top 20.  Having performed on our shores for the first time as part of Stereosonic in 2014, his Worlds tour, an interactive live show as ambitious as the album it was named for, saw Porter return to Australia in 2015 for a run of sold out dates and a much-talked about performance at Splendour in the Grass.

Madeon first came to global attention with his game-changing video and track ‘Pop Culture’ in 2011. Early last year, he released his highly-anticipated debut album, Adventure, which spawned the singles ‘You’re On’, co-written with Jimmy Napes (Sam Smith, Disclosure), ‘Home’ and triple j favourite ‘Imperium’. Adventure debuted in the Top 40 on the ARIA Album Charts and Madeon was last seen in Australian in 2013 for Future Music Festival.

While this collaboration is a first for the two artists, they have played a pivotal role in each other’s work over the past decade of their young careers. Having first met on an internet message board a decade ago as young Daft Punk fans who wanted to produce music, Porter and Madeon have pursued distinct but coincidentally parallel careers to become electronic music creators of their own, each has emerged out of the electronic music scene to become crossover electronic pop powerhouses.
