RETURNING TO AUSTRALIA & TOURING

NEW ZEALAND FOR THE FIRST TIME THIS NOVEMBER

WITH MONTELL JORDAN AS SPECIAL GUEST IN ADELAIDE & AUCKLAND

Frontier Touring and Illusive are thrilled to be bringing one of history’s most influential female hip-hop and R&B acts, TLC to Australia and New Zealand this November. Joining TLC in Adelaide and Auckland will be fellow ‘90s R&B sensation Montell Jordan.

Formed in Atlanta in 1991, TLC are a five-time Grammy Award winning act who captured the world’s attention with their sassy and sophisticated R&B set against a socially conscious lyrical style. These three empowered women, Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins, Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas and Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes would go on to sell over 65 million records worldwide.

Tragically in 2002, Lopes was killed in a car accident while spending time in Honduras. Refusing to call it quits in honour of their fallen sister, T-Boz and Chilli have since continued to tour worldwide.

In 1994 TLC released CrazySexyCool. Selling over 11 million copies in America alone, the record was nominated for six Grammys, and winning Best R&B Album. The truly iconic nature of CrazySexyCool remains true, following an entry in Rolling Stone magazine’s 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time.

Featuring iconic jams like ‘Waterfalls’, ‘If I Was Your Girlfriend’ (penned by the late icon Prince) and ‘Creep’, it’s no surprise the album has become an R&B classic.

‘CrazySexyCool is a sensual, coming-of-age sophomore album, and it remains a remarkably timeless link to what being a guileless, horny twentysomething is like in any era.’ – Consequence of Sound

Their third record FanMail received eight Grammy Award nominations, taking home the coveted Album of the Year and Best R&B Album while its singles ‘No Scrubs’ won Record of the Year and ‘Unpretty’ won Best Video. In Australia, the album is certified platinum, while in America it’s achieved a diamond certification for selling more than 10 million copies.

Earlier this year, TLC announced a new album for 2016, their first in over a decade. Very little is known about the album, with the only public statement from the ladies reading:

“This album, our final album, is dedicated to all of you that have stuck with us, always challenging us to do our best. And of course, it's for the new fans too! We just want to put out great music that touches everyone. That's it."

Hitmaker Montell Jordan has been dropping hip hop and soul jams since bursting onto the scene with chart-topping single ‘This Is How We Do It’, which became one of the best-selling records of 1995. His debut album of the same name debuted at #1 in America, launching Montell Jordan into international stardom.

To celebrate his breakthrough single’s 20-year anniversary last year, Jordan took to the stage to perform ‘This Is How We Do It’ during halftime at a Golden State Warriors NBA game in Oakland, USA, proving once again that he’s still the ultimate entertainer.

TLC were joined at their debut Australian shows by a full band and stunning backdrop images paying homage to Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes with reviewers and fans alike touched by the nostalgic nature of the shows and reminded of TLC’s truly iconic musical archives.

Their return to Australia and first ever New Zealand shows later this year are set to be just as spectacular. Don’t miss one of the most iconic R&B groups of our generation taking to the stage for a series of not-to-be-missed concerts this November.
