About

Over the past few years, Tromboranga has become one of the world’s most sought-after Salsa bands and in February, they will be sharing their music and amazing live show with Melburnians at the wonderful Trak Lounge in Toorak.  With the recent release of a new album which is getting rave reviews from the critics and world tours covering the US, Canada, South America, Europe and Asia, the group is very excited to be coming for their first ever visit Downunder.  This is a concert you don't want to miss and will become a piece of Melbourne’s music history!!

As part of a new generation of independent Latin orchestras, Tromboranga is the pure essence of “Salsa Dura”. Tromboranga´s spicy ingredients come from the trombones sound with solid percussion and “soneos”, the voice improvisations among the choruses. With influences from salsa music from the 60's and 70's, they bring a raw, strong, catchy and very 'danceable' sound.

Their original songs like "Humildad", "Palo pa la Campana", "Ah Caraj", "Mi China Colombiana", talk about stories that can describe the life of any of us and they have become number ones in Latin radios and dance floors all over the world.

Tromboranga is made up of musicians originating from Latin America and Europe.  Its members are:

Joaquín Arteaga, Band leader, Timbal and composer from Venezuela, known for his long career as a percussionist and also as band leader of the orchestra “Bloque 53”.

Diego Coppinger, a traditional “Sonero”, with an extensive career that includes “Tropicana” in Cuba, gives colour and Cuban flavour with great depth and experience in his amazing soneos.

Freddy Ramos, a young singer from Venezuela, also a musical arranger with a wide and impressive musical career.

Rafael “Madagascar” Arciniegas adds Colombian flavour with his piano and arrangements.

Lorenzo "El diablo" Barriendos, a Venezuelan musician on bass, with tasteful tumbaos, known for his collaborations with orchestras such as Trabuco Venezolano, Mango group Guaco among many others.

The strong and colourful trombone section, which offers a distinctive mark on the band: Vladimir Peña (Venezuela), Josep Blanes (Spain) and Miguel Moises (Catalunya), all supported by the taste and the Conga afinque Oriol Martinez from Spain and the spicy bongo of Climent Campa, also from Spain.
