‘a day on the green' LAUNCHES 2008/09 SUMMER SEASON
WITH JOHN MELLENCAMP!
AND SPECIAL GUEST SHERYL CROW

Australia's favourite winery event  ‘a day on the green' kicks off its 2008/2009 summer series with another spectacular concert announcement.

Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriters John Mellencamp and Sheryl Crow will play five  ‘a day on the green' events as part of their Australian and New Zealand concert tour.

In what is set to be one of THE most anticipated concerts of the year, Mellencamp and Crow will perform in Australia at Sandalford Wines, Perth on Saturday November 15, Rochford Wines, Yarra Valley on November 22 and Bimbadgen Estate, Hunter Valley on Saturday November 29.

It will be Mellencamp's first tour in 15 years. He will perform his hits as well as debuting material from his brand new album ‘Life, Death, Love & Freedom' album (released on Hear Music thru Universal Music on July 12 2008).

John will bring with him his legendary touring band; Mike Wancic (his veteran guitarist of 30 years), Troye Kinnett (keyboards), Miriam Sturm (violin), Dane Clark (drums), Andrew York (guitar) and John Gunnell (bass). 

Mellencamp was inducted earlier this year into the U.S.A Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and this past December received the ASCAP Foundation's Champion Award in recognition of his outstanding use of music in the service of humanity.  He continues to headline the annual Farm Aid event in the USA that he co-founded with Willie Nelson.

The acclaimed singer/songwriter dominated Australian radio and charts  with irresistible pop/rock anthems like 'Jack and Diane', 'Little Pink Houses', 'Hurts So Good', 'Small Town', 'Lonely Ol' Night', 'R.O.C.K In The U.S.A', 'Paper In Fire', 'Cherry Bomb' to name a few, propelling him to sales of more than two million records and an enviable reputation as one of the hottest live acts to ever tour Australia.

Joining John on tour will be special guest Sheryl Crow.  Returning to Australia for the first time since 1997, Sheryl will also perform her hits; ‘All I Wanna Do', ‘If It Makes You Happy' plus feature material from her album ‘Detours' released earlier this year (Universal Music).   There will also be a Sheryl Crow Live DVD released through the Soundstage imprint, distributed by Liberator in Australia to coincide with the tour announcement. 

Established in 2001, ‘a day on the green' was the forerunner in offering a quality music experience for the baby boomer market in a winery environment. Promoters Roundhouse Entertainment have spent the past seven years nurturing the concept, securing exclusive contracts with the best winery venues in Australia, and carefully building a brand which is now second to none.  More than 130 shows and 800,000 happy patrons later, ‘a day on the green' now has a loyal following in all states in Australia.

As part of its ongoing growth, last summer ‘a day on the green' expanded across the Tasman to New Zealand to launch its first concerts in three of the country's most spectacular wineries. Headlined by Joe Cocker, the results were overwhelmingly successful, prompting a greater number of shows in New Zealand this summer.

After seven years of presenting ‘a day on the green' events, both Rochford Wines (Yarra Valley) and Bimbadgen Estate (Hunter Valley) wanted to further improve their concert environments and so during the winter months, both have undergone extensive refurbishments to their natural amphitheatres, and in areas like parking (patron and coach), entry points and general on site facilities.  Both wineries are spectacular settings and these improvements will further enhance the concert experience for ‘a day on the green' patrons.

Roundhouse Entertainment will be announcing further concerts for the 2008/2009 summer season with both international and domestic artists soon.  We look forward to another fabulous season of good food, good wine and great music - and what better way to kick off the year than with John Mellencamp and Sheryl Crow! 

One of WA's most vibrant and successful roots music acts Toby will open the concert in Perth; the energetic pop/rock of the Vanda's will start proceedings in Melbourne and the sweet country sounds of Felicity Urquhart will open in the Hunter Valley.
