MELBOURNE SOLD OUT!
THIRD GUY SEBASTIAN PERFORMANCE ANNOUNCED TO MEET DEMAND
Due to an unprecedented demand by Melbourne fans for tickets to see Guy Sebastian on his ‘Get Along’ Tour, Six Degrees Management is thrilled to announce that Australia’s most successful male artist, Guy Sebastian, will perform a third and final show, a special matinee performance, on Sunday 7 April at the Palais Theatre. Tickets for this additional show go on sale Wednesday 13 February at 9:00am.
Guy Sebastian is heading back on the road next March and April for his ‘Get Along’ tour. Guy will play sold out shows in Perth, Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney and his hometown of Adelaide.
After nine successful years, Guy has earned a place in Australian music history as the Australian male artist with the most number one singles. His recent single Battle Scars (featuring US rapper Lupe Fiasco) debuted at number one on the ARIA singles chart, where it remained for an amazing six consecutive weeks. Battle Scars gave Guy his first American hit, peaking at number one on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Chart. Guy performed it on the Late Show with David Letterman and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon in New York City with Lupe Fiasco.
Guy is looking forward to playing songs off his latest album Armageddon, which was released in October, hitting number one on the ARIA album chart. “I can’t wait to get back on the road again and play songs from my new album,” Guy says. “Of course I’ll play all the old favourites too!”
Guy is one of Australia’s greatest singer-songwriters and has proved his place as an Australian idol. After winning the first series in 2003, Guy captured the hearts of Australians with his unique and incredible vocal talent. Since then his success has carried over into seven multi-platinum albums and countless sell-out tours. Add to this his string of awards and the fact he is the only Australian male artist in Australian music history to achieve six chart-topping singles – Battle Scars, Angels Brought Me Here, All I Need Is You, Out With My Baby, Like It Like That and Who’s That Girl? – and you can see why Guy truly is a world-class talent.
Tickets to Guy’s additional Melbourne show go on sale Wednesday 13 February from Ticketmaster.
In-depth Biography
Guy Sebastian was born in Klang, Malaysia, to Malaysian and English parents. At a young age, Sebastian moved with his family to Adelaide, Australia. His singing career began at the age of 14. In addition to attending a Baptist private school, he attended Paradise Community Church, one of Australia's largest mega-churches. His involvement with the youth choir as a soloist led to national and international performance opportunities. After graduation, Sebastian found work as an audio engineer and vocal teacher. It was his participation in the first season of Australian Idol that brought his talent to public attention. The breakthrough show's first winner, Sebastian signed with BMG. The artist's first single, "Angels Brought Me Here," debuted at number one. Released December 3, 2003, Just as I Am became an Australian best-seller, a six-time platinum record. The October release of Beautiful Life debuted to similar success, but without the sustained sales of its predecessor. Sebastian experienced the pitfall of many of the decade's television-made recording stars; instant success came at the price of insecurity and writer's block, causing the artist to consider abandoning a life making music between his second and third record. He returned home to write his next project among friends, jamming and creating a truly organic product. Closer to the Sun hit shelves in September 2006, peaking at number four on Australian charts and selling more than 70,000 copies. ~ Evan C. Gutierrez, Rovi
