ITALIAN SUPERSTAR EROS RAMAZZOTTI ANNOUNCES FIRST AUSTRALIAN TOUR!
Italian superstar Eros Ramazzotti has announced his first Australian concert tour.
With 40 million record sales and a distinguished 25-year career, the news of his imminent arrival has already sent the Italian community into a frenzy!
Ramazzotti is a pop/rock performer, acclaimed guitarist, songwriter and producer, who is a phenomenon throughout Europe, South America and with Italians all over the world. His albums regularly sell not gold, not platinum but diamond status.
His talent is recognised and respected within the music industry worldwide, and he has recorded duets with Anastasia, Joe Cocker, Tina Turner, Cher, Steve Vai, Carlos Santana, Wyclef Jean, Ricky Martin and The Chieftains to name a few.
His live concerts are renowned for their excitement and first class production. One look at his incredible "Roma Live" 2004 concert DVD before 80,000 people at Rome's Olympic Stadium leaves no doubt why he is known as one of Italy's greatest ever performers.
The Eros Ramazzotti story follows the usual music path. Born in Rome in 1963, Eros dropped out of high school at an early age to pursue his musical ambitions. After winning the ‘New Act' section of the renowned San Remo Festival in 1984, and then the overall competition two years later, his career kicked off with immediate success.
In the following years Eros becomes one of Europe's biggest stars with album after album selling in the millions and topping charts, and performing sold out concert tours to millions of fans, inciting a genuine fervor and passion in his loyal fans, not unlike a U2 or Bruce Springsteen. He also records all his records in Spanish, and tours South America's huge stadiums regularly.
His 14th and latest album is a double greatest hits set titled "e²", which was released late last year. The album has sold more than two million copies and has been awarded Gold or Platinum status in 12 European countries.
Career highlights continue, most recently in April this year when Eros was a guest of the prestigious NIAF (National Italian American Foundation) at a Gala evening attended by the Italian Ambassador for the United States, where he received the 2008 NIAF Award for promoting the image of Italy and Italian music throughout the world. The award puts him in the company of previous winners Frank Sinatra, Luciano Pavarotti, Andrea Bocelli, Henry Mancini and Liza Minnelli.
But this exciting performer loves nothing better than being on stage, rocking a huge crowd and he is genuinely excited to be coming to Australia for the first time. Promoter Andrew McManus Presents advises fans to buy quickly, as these tickets will certainly sell out fast!
In-depth Biography
As a Latin-pop singer, Eros Ramazzotti became especially popular in Germany, Mexico and Argentina (as well as his native Italy) during the '90s, and he has sold over 20 million records worldwide, though his success in America has been limited. He was born in the Rome suburb of Cinecitta during the mid-'60s, and moved to Milan to make a career of music as a teenager. Beginning with 1991's In Ogni Senso, Ramazzotti recorded three albums for Arista during the first half of the '90s. With a new BMG deal which included his RadioRama production company, Eros moved from pop-oriented music to more straightahead rock, even recruiting a rock band for the 1995 Rock over Europe festival. Eros Live followed in 1998. ~ John Bush, All Music Guide
