About

Indie rock heavyweights Interpol and Bloc Party are reuniting with cult fans down under, today announcing a mammoth co-headline tour hitting Brisbane this November.

Marking their first return to Australia since 2019, revered New York rock-outfit Interpol will bring their magnetic stage presence and atmospheric back catalogue to devoted music fans with acclaimed alt-anthems from records like Turn On The Bright Lights, Antics and El Pintor.

Forming in Manhattan in 1997, Interpol are considered one of the quintessential bands of the early 2000s New York indie music scene, alongside artists like The Strokes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, TV on the Radio and The National. With their live show described as a “transcendent experience”, crowds will revel in cornerstone tracks as well as music from their 7th studio album The Other Side of Make-Believe live in Australia for the first time.

Interpol said “We are so happy to be hitting the road with our friends Bloc Party in Australia! Come on down!”

Ready to amplify Australian stages for the first time since 2018, UK’s acclaimed indie-rock force Bloc Party are set to electrify with their genre-bending catalogue of hailed gems from Silent Alarm, A Weekend In The City, Intimacy and 2022 LP release Alpha Games. If that’s not enough, Bloc Party have released two more singles this year, “Keep It Rolling” and “High Life” and will release The High Life EP on Friday 21 July.

Bloc Party got their break in 2003 when lead singer Kele Okereke gave a copy of single “She’s Hearing Voices” to Franz Ferdinand’s lead singer Alex Kapranos and BBC Radio 1 DJ Steve Lamacq, who subsequently played the song on his show labelling the track as “genius”. Their debut album Silent Alarm released in 2005 which went on to go platinum. With almost two decades and six albums worth of material, fans will be spoilt for choice with favourites in live form including “Banquet”, “Helicopter”, “This Modern Love” and “Flux”.

Kele Okereke said “The histories of Bloc Party and Interpol are intertwined at various stages of our careers. It made perfect sense to us to solidify that by playing some massive shows together in one of our favourite countries on earth. We can’t wait to get back to Australia in November.”

A bucket-list tour you won’t want to miss, catch powerhouse bands Interpol and Bloc Party on stage near you this November.
