Tim Minchin is a songwriter, singer, pianist, actor, writer, comedian, and producer, and now, he can add theatre-launcher (yes, itās the official term) to his impressive resume as he opens Foundry Theatre with the appropriately titled, Tim Minchin ā First at the Foundry.
First at the Foundry is a unique opportunity to see Tim and his band playing an eclectic selection of tunes from his wide-ranging back-catalogue in a brand new, really small, really great venue. Playing a strictly limited season only at the Foundry Theatre.
As one of Australiaās most renowned theatre performers and creators, Tim is stoked to be part of bringing a new commercial theatre to Sydney that can host the next generation of theatre makers, theatre artists and theatre goers.
Tim says: āThe opening of a new theatre is a rare and wonderful thing, and I was stoked that the legendary theatre-builder Stephen Found asked me to be the canary in the coalmine. Or the champagne bottle shattering on the hull. Or the mohel removing the foreskin of theā¦ anyway, you get my drift. Stoked.ā

Very enjoyable, such a clever man. tends to ramble a bit. stories are fun and interesting and obviously highly intelligent and a deep thinker. Shame he didn't sing.
A wonderful evening with Tim. First-class questions and the interviewer helped get the max of Tim out to us. Any one of the questions could have yielded an entire program of discussion!
Iāve enjoyed Tim Minchinās talents for many years, singing, acting, making us laugh, speaking, producing and tonight ās book interview was simply another medium to be entertained by this Australian treasure. Of all the ways he expresses himself, Iāve decided my favourite is just listening to him speak. Timās words alway come from a deep place - heās obviously a deep thinker - deliberate and thoughtful yet at the same time deliciously irreverent and funny. Tim renews my love of language and always leaves me resonating on different aspects of humanity and how we interact, engage and deal with the nuances of life. I enjoy his perspectives, sometimes disagree with them but thatās ok and Timās also ok with that. He teaches us to be passionate, focus on whatās in front of us and give it a red hot go, while at the same time being kind to ourselves and not to take life l, or ourselves, too seriously. The format of the evening was great, the interviewer did a great job, as did the Auslan interpreters (watching them sign some of Timās colourful anecdotes was a hoot!). The Q&A session in the second half was a lot of fun, clearly an intelligent audience with a wonderful variety of clever questions that Tim managed beautifully. Overall, a very enjoyable evening and of course, I snaffled a copy of his personally autographed book and am enjoying reading it already. š©·
