GIANTS

The GIANTS may be the Australian Football League's youngest club, having entered the competition at the beginning of the 2012 season, but the GIANTS have already begun to build a rich history. Since the club's formation, it has helped to grow the game in Western Sydney and the ACT through numerous community programs, while the GIANTS' on-field success has also helped to bring new fans to the game with the club's membership growing year-on-year. In the GIANTS' nine AFL seasons to date the club has made finals four times, winning a final in each September campaign.

Getting there

Sydney Olympic Park is easily approached by road, with the M4, Victoria Road and Parramatta Road in close proximity. For short visits there are 2-hour free-parking spaces located on Grand Parade, Olympic Boulevard and Dawn Fraser Avenue.

Sydney Olympic Park has over 10,000 parking spaces site-wide. Carparks P1, P5 and P6 are in close proximity to Sydney Showground. Costs: $6 per hour, up to a maximum fee of $30 per day. We recommend you pre-book parking if you plan to visit Sydney Showground on the day of a major event. Cost is $30 per car for the day. This cost is for one entry and exit into your selected car park.

Olympic Park train station is on Sydney Showground's doorstep. The Sprint service, operated by CityRail, travels between Lidcombe and Olympic Park Stations daily, every 10 minutes. A limited number of direct services also operate between Central Station and Olympic Park Station in the afternoon on weekdays and for some major events.

Sydney Buses operate direct bus services to Sydney Olympic Park from a number of locations including Lidcombe, Strathfield and Parramatta.

Sydney Ferries run a daily service between Circular Quay and Parramatta stopping at Sydney Olympic Park Ferry Wharf. To travel to Sydney Showground, visitors must also catch a connecting bus.

Buying a mobile ticket with Ticketmaster couldn’t be easier. If Mobile* is listed as a delivery option, you will then be able to access your ticket from your Ticketmaster Account once purchase has been completed. We expect that tickets to some AFL games will be in high demand, and to make the process fair for everyone you may be placed in a queue. We recommend signing into your Ticketmaster account at least 10 minutes before tickets go on sale to save your spot and join the Pre-Queue waiting room.     Exhilarating end to a high scoring match.

    On entry to the stadium was surprised by the number of empty seats. Queues at the food and drink facilities were still excessive despite there being a great range. The wing upper stand was freezing due to the high winds but fortunately with so many empty seats our party of five was able to transfer to the stand behind the goals where there was better protection. The significant lead built up by the Giants was totally run down by the fast finishing Lions who prevailed by 5 points. A fantastic night of football.

    complementary free travel

    Ticket purchase was straightforward. If public transport travel is advertised by Ticketmaster as being included in the ticket, that should also be straightforward. Last night AGAIN there was no attendant at my train station to open barriers to exit the station. Either Ticketmaster or Sydney trains need to fix this. I have no objection to Welcome to Country. However, the speaker on Saturday night was too political. His type of commentary has no place in sporting events.
