FAQS

This summer, the Australian Open main draw will begin on Sunday 14 January and run for 15 days, until Sunday 28 January, giving fans more opportunities to enjoy the world-class tennis and entertainment on offer.

We’ve introduced a Sunday start to improve scheduling for fans and players alike.

The first round will now be played over three days – Sunday 14 to Tuesday 16. Round two will begin on Wednesday 17 and be played over two days, as will all subsequent rounds.

Patrons can purchase the following number of seats per session or per customer.

  • Rod Laver Arena - up to nine seats per session (Men’s Semifinals, and Men’s and Women’s Finals - up to six seats)
  • Margaret Court Arena - up to nine seats per session
  • John Cain Arena – up to nine seats per session
  • AO Opening Week (qualifying matches) - up to 10 seats per session
  • Ground Passes – unlimited

Please note, tickets for each session will have to be purchased in a separate transaction.

Group Bookings for 10+ seats can be purchased via https://www.ticketmaster.com.au/AOGroups

For arena tickets:

Children aged 3-11 (which includes 11-year-olds who have not yet reached their 12th birthday) as at the date a ticket is presented for entry at the AO may purchase a Kids Ticket.

Children aged 2 and under (which includes 2-year-olds who have not yet reached their 3rd birthday) as at the date a ticket is presented for entry at the AO may enter at no charge, provided they do not occupy a reserved seat. In relation to children who enter the AO on a Kids Ticket, the following conditions apply:

  • The child must be within the age range specified in relation to the ticket;
  • TA and/or M&OP may require evidence of the child’s age or make a reasonable assessment of the child’s age in which case that assessment will be final and determinative;
  • The child’s relevant age shall be as of the date the ticket is presented for entry to the AO (not the date of purchase); and
  • The child must always be accompanied by a parent or guardian (18 years of age or over) during attendance at the AO. Parents or guardians who accompany children at the AO are responsible for the care, conduct and supervision of those children.

All persons aged 12 and over as of the date a ticket is presented for entry at the AO may only attend the AO on an adult ticket, unless they hold a valid Concession Card Identification such as Student Cards: Full-time Secondary students, Full

Unfortunately, tickets, dining and upgrade experiences cannot be transferred to other sessions.

If you have made an error with your booking, you will need to submit a support request via Ticketmaster support.

Tennis Australia has moved away from offering pre-defined multi-session packages to allow our fans more choice in planning their own unique AO experience. Patrons will be able to purchase multi-day Ground Passes in the second week of the tournament.

Shaded seats are the most popular and sell out very quickly. Patrons who book tickets online will have the option to book seats in the shade (subject to availability) via an interactive arena map.
If shaded seats are required for medical reasons, patrons should contact the accessibility booking line on +61 3 9286 1208. Formal documentation is required for these bookings. The Australian Open is an outdoor event, and it is highly recommended you bring appropriate protection from sun and weather regardless of the location of your allocated seats.

Shaded areas are subject to weather conditions on the day. Areas designated to be in shade are indicative only and cannot be guaranteed to be in the shade on the day.

Seats can be marked as restricted due to the presence of glass panels, safety barriers and handrails, broadcast cameras and other temporary infrastructure. Unfortunately, we are unable to confirm what the specific restriction is, or how this may affect your view.

AO24 is now sold according to areas rather than categories.
These areas will be made visible during the ticket purchase process and customers can choose a variety of areas within the arena to suit their price range.

Examples of these designated areas include Lower Baseline, Lower Sideline, Upper Baseline and High-Upper Sideline.

Tickets include access to a reserved seat within either Rod Laver Arena or Margaret Court Arena and all areas of the AO precinct, including non-ticketed areas within John Cain Arena, 1573 Arena, Court 3, Kia Arena and other outdoor courts (entry will be limited to daily availability). There is no access to Margaret Court Arena with a Rod Laver Arena ticket and no access to Rod Laver Arena with a Margaret Court Arena ticket. For more information, please visit the AO ticket info page. Please note there will be no matches played at John Cain Arena from 23 Jan to the end of the tournament.

A Ground Pass provides access all areas of the AO precinct, including non-ticketed areas within John Cain Arena, 1573 Arena, Court 3, Kia Arena and other outdoor courts (entry will be limited to daily availability), except for ticketed arena venues, or separately ticketed events or experiences.
