About Dulce Maria

Though Dulce Maria’s rise to stardom began when she was only eight and cast as a regular on "Plaza Sesamo" (Mexico’s version of "Sesame Street"), her stint as a child actress was just the start of a sweeping entertainment career, which has included roles in multiple television series, numerous tours with popular music groups and even her own successful solo music career. Dulce Maria’s concerts, like her songs, are high-energy, upbeat events, where fans are up and out of their seats, dancing to the unmistakably pop and Latin beats. Dulce Maria’s newest release, "Lágrimas” (featuring Julion Alvarez), premiered on September 3, 2013, and the invigorating dance tune is currently taking over the airwaves in Mexico.

Dulce Maria first caught the attention of the public as an actress, but she discovered her knack for music after joining K.I.D.S., a popular Mexican music group for children. While she enjoyed short stints in several other bands, her ticket to musical superstardom was being cast on "Rebelde," a telenovela about a fictional pop band called RBD. When RBD decided to record and release their songs in real life, the group became an overnight pop sensation and ultimately released nine full-length studio albums, selling over 20 million records. When RBD disbanded in 2008, Dulce Maria was offered a solo record deal with Universal, and soon after, she collaborated with Akon on a remix of “Beautiful” and released her own first single, “Inevitable,” in May 2010. Dulce Maria’s debut album was eventually released in two parts – Extranjera Primera Parte (in 2010) and Segunda Parte (in 2011), which peaked at Nos. 11 and 20 on the Latin Pop Albums chart, respectively. Dulce Maria has been a superstar in Mexico for multiple decades now, but she shows no signs of slowing down. Expect to see more from her on stage, on screen and in the studio in the years to come.
