Gilbert is one of the great singer songwriters a show not to be missed a wonderful night of all the hits and listening to a unique voice
The Palms At Crown has good acoustics and you should be able to see and hear the artist from anywhere you sit. Probably the raised area is best if you want to avoid someone with a big head in front of you. My seating was four rows from the front and there were no issues with seeing and hearing Gilbert O'Sullivan. It was a low key somewhat laidback performance with some light humour and anecdotes. I came to hear two songs, the big ones, Clair and Alone Again and he played them towards the end of the show. I had forgotten other songs he had written which were just as good and came to quickly realise he has a very good catalogue of work such as Matrimony and We Will. He gave us anecdotes touching on his songs and what was behind them; the reason behind his wilderness years (a successful court action) but little of his personal life. (He is married with two children). His lyrics are the strong part of his history revealing a man with emotions, who likes dogs (Get Down), is an observer and loner and a romantic at heart which comes through his lyrics. He claims the majority of his songs are not autobiographical, maybe not consciously but... Gilbert played an electronic keyboard while accompanied by Bill Shanley on various guitars. I came out a bigger fan than I was when I entered the theatre.
We, I really enjoyed the concert! It’s a fantastic night, Gilbert O’Sullivan still got his beautiful and youthful voice! I was been waiting for him to sing the song, “Alone Again Naturally” and he didn’t disappoint the audience, me myself ❤️ One of the best song’s in entire world. Love you, Gilbert.. ❤️
I have waited 54 years to see Gilbert (Ray) O'Sullivan in concert and I enjoyed every minute!! A sensitive lyricist who also specialises in wonderfully catchy melodies and informative banter, Gilbert has been a highlight on my entertainment calendar in 2025. Highly recommended.
Amazing, such a talent and joy to experience... was as if 50+ years hadn't passed. Loved it
First time I have seen Gilbert O'Sullivan sing live and he was great. It was just him with his piano and backup singer/guitarist, Bill, on stage. Show started a bit slow as he talked about his early career and sang songs not that familiar to the age appropriate audience. As show progressed he relaxed more and shared many humorous experiences of his career. He mixed old songs with newer ones which the audience enjoyed. After a short interval, he came back even better. Audience clapped and sang along with him. He bought the house down on his last song "Get Down"Everyone left the theatre on a high.
