  • A great reimagined version. ........

by Kenzo on 28/11/24Capitol Theatre, Sydney - HaymarketRating: 3 out of 5

The choreography is superb!! HOWEVER!!! Maybe I'm old-fashioned but whether you're a believer, non-believer or something in-between , you can't modify a traditional story to attempt to appeal to a new modern audience with hip-hop, electric guitars & for most part weird costuming.

  • Fabulous modern twist

by Christine H on 28/11/24Capitol Theatre, Sydney - HaymarketRating: 5 out of 5

My son & I enjoyed this production very much. Michael Paynter who played Jesus was the standout for me

Fabulous dancing and energy. The music in the first half was unbearably loud. My smart watch warned me of 90 decibels. The noise of the music drowned out the words of the songs and I was very dissapointed not to be able to hear the wonderful lyrics.

  • 1972 and then 2024

by Shay on 27/11/24Capitol Theatre, Sydney - HaymarketRating: 5 out of 5

We saw the original Jesus Christ Superstar in 1972, it was my second date with my future husband. So, 52 years later I decided to buy tickets to the current production. Many differences and many similarities with the two performances over all those years. I was delighted with this current show, loved everything about it, although my husband was a tad troubled with the modern costume.....But thank you for a wonderful performance and a great lot of nostalgia!

  • Jesus Christ Superstar

    by Rose B on 27/11/24Rating: 5 out of 5

I was always reluctant to see this, after all I knew how it ended and I was also familiar with the lyrics…..however, attend I did and I was absolutely blown away by the whole performance. Every member of the cast gave it their all. They all stood out with their own unique sound and presence. The whole cast’s interaction was flawless, the message conveyed was very moving. A very enjoyable experience.

  • Great show!

by Anonyiz on 25/11/24Capitol Theatre, Sydney - HaymarketRating: 4 out of 5

Amazing voices, live music and props. Would have loved for set changes, that would have been the cherry on top but fell short. Otherwise a good day out.

  • Superstar review

by Suze on 25/11/24Capitol Theatre, Sydney - HaymarketRating: 4 out of 5

The show exceeded my expectations. However, I found at times the music itself was a tad too loud and the vocalists' lyrics were hard to decipher.

  • SUPERSTAR - SUPERSHOW

by TERRI on 25/11/24Capitol Theatre, Sydney - HaymarketRating: 5 out of 5

What a fantastic show!! My daughter said it was the best show she had seen ever. We loved it!! Cast was excellent, music and vocals brilliant. A fabulous afternoon outing.

  • Jesus Christ Superstar

Saw the show years ago when I was at school. Went with friends and hubby this time Excellent

  • Best production of JCS I`ve seen!

by Swainey on 25/11/24Capitol Theatre, Sydney - HaymarketRating: 5 out of 5

The set was incredible and was easily viewed even from the top and back. The singing and dancing was completely on point and exquisite. I have been to three separate JCS productions and this was by far the best!!! Well done to the cast, crew and band!!!!

  • Orchestra overpowered the singing.

by DD on 25/11/24Capitol Theatre, Sydney - HaymarketRating: 1 out of 5

The Orchestra overpowered the singing, and I could not understand any of the words it could have been in German. Impossible to follow the story as you couldn’t understand the words at all. The costumes were very basic and nothing like the original 70s ones. The stage was small and not like the original production either.

  • Disappointing

by Pebble on 24/11/24Capitol Theatre, Sydney - HaymarketRating: 2 out of 5

I felt this production was very disappointing The costumes were so ordinary Very hard to hear the dialogue as music was so loud

  • JC Superstar

by Jan on 24/11/24Capitol Theatre, Sydney - HaymarketRating: 5 out of 5

Amazing voices ! The choreography was fantastic . The score brilliant . Casting was spot on . If I was to point out 1 disappointing feature , we all left the theatre on an emotional down . Feel that when the cast all came out that they could have sang JC Superstar which the audience would have participated in . Apart from that an absolutely brilliant show

  • Loved it!

by Linda on 24/11/24Rating: 5 out of 5

I first saw JCS in 1972 in Sydney, I was 8 and I loved it. I loved it today too. Great voices, great music and yes Reuben Kaye…YOU NAILED IT😘

  • Fabulous. What I expected and more

by Tracey on 24/11/24Capitol Theatre, Sydney - HaymarketRating: 5 out of 5

The tickets were easy to get online and easy to pay for. Having the ability to put them in my digital wallet, was great. My friends and I enjoyed every minute of JC Superstar. It was like being back in 1973 when we first saw it!!

  • Seen better performances of this show

by Roo on 24/11/24Capitol Theatre, Sydney - HaymarketRating: 3 out of 5

Both Jesus and Judas have amazing voices, but the guys playing Simon and Peter had better voices. Also, I did not understand the crazy chick with the pink hair that was prancing around all the time.

  • Having an older phone

by Old phone owner on 24/11/24Capitol Theatre, Sydney - HaymarketRating: 4 out of 5

Glad you sent my tickets on the day direct to my iPhone 10 as I couldn’t access them thru Ticketmaster as my old phone iso level made them unavailable which was a worry up until they popped up on the day on my phone screen !

  • J C Superstar was spectacular!!!

by Live theatre fan on 24/11/24Capitol Theatre, Sydney - HaymarketRating: 5 out of 5

I have seen many versions of JC Superstar since the 1970s but this by far was the most outstanding of them all. The music, the singing, the dancing, the costumes and the whole experience was phenomenal! The energy, the vibe, the skill level of the performers was beyond anything we could have imagined. We went to the Wednesday night 20/11 performance. A special mention goes to “Jesus” whose vocal range and skills in holding a note is incredible but every performer deserves the highest of praise. Thank you for an unforgettable night. If you havent seen the show then grab some tickets. Its a wonderful experience.

  • Good show, not amazing.

by Squirt on 24/11/24Capitol Theatre, Sydney - HaymarketRating: 3 out of 5

The show was good, but not amazing. Wasn’t a fan of the modern version of this musical. Some songs were screamed, not sung. Best sound was with singers that had microphones they didn’t have to hold. Thought they should have used some more renowned singers. Dance ensemble was great, but their singing was mediocre.

  • Amazing show. I'm going back in January

by Batesey on 24/11/24Capitol Theatre, Sydney - HaymarketRating: 5 out of 5

Capitol theatre is lovely and so convenient to Central. Drinks are expensive. Superstar was unbelievable good. Best show ever!
