Parking

Car parking is usually available at the MCG in Yarra Park. This land is controlled by the City of Melbourne and parking currently costs $8.00 per car. Occasionally parts of Yarra Park are closed to save the grass after heavy rain. Street parking is very limited due to strict Council Regulations. Vehicles with accessible parking permits can access parking at any of the entrances to Yarra Park. For the Great Southern Stand and AFL Members Reserve, enter via Punt Road (Gates 5 or 6). For MCC Members, enter via Wellington Parade South (Gate 3).

Public Transportation

Trains There are two train stations close to the MCG. Jolimont (otherwise known as MCG Station) is north of the ground and offers a five-minute stroll through Yarra Park to the ground. From any railway station in the central business district, take the Hurstbridge or Epping lines. The other station is Richmond on the south eastern side of the MCG. Its a slightly longer walk to the ground but you can walk past the Punt Road Oval to the Great Southern Stand side. To get to Richmond station from the city, take any train on the Lilydale, Belgrave, Alamein, Glen Waverley, Dandenong, Pakenham, Cranbourne, Frankston or Sandringham lines. Trams Two services connect Flinders Street with the eastern suburbs via Wellington Parade Both the 75 (City-East Burwood) and 48 (City-North Balwyn) stop just outside the MCG. The 70 (City-Wattle Park) detours from Flinders Street along Swan Street, and its a short walk across the footbridge to the ground. Buses The distinctive red and yellow National bus which links La Trobe University with Elsternwick Station is a useful service for patrons from the northern and southern suburbs. The 246 stops in Punt Road, just a punt kick from the ground. Taxis Taxis are available from the ground at the conclusion of each event. Otherwise the venue is a pleasant 15 minute walk from the city.

Accessible Seating

The following bays have wheelchair and carer seats: Great Southern Stand - Public Level 1 - in all sections except M1, M2, M17 and M27. Level 2 - access to these areas during the football season is restricted to the home clubs season reserved seat members or patrons in level 2 dining rooms. Ponsford Stand - Public Level 1 - behind M28, M33, M34, M35 seating Level 2 - behind N29, N34, N35 seating Level 4 - Q34, Q35 Olympic Stand - Public Level 1 - behind M51, M52 seating Level 2 - behind N52, N53 seating Level 4 - Q52, Q53 COMPANION CARD Companion Card is recognised for all football matches. The patron with a disability still has to pay for his or her own entry. They will be entitled to a concession ticket if they have the appropriate concession identification. On presentation of the Companion Card, an additional ticket will be issued to the companion free of charge. Customers pre-purchasing event tickets can also use a Companion Card when booking through Ticketmaster. Patrons are advised to visit: www.companioncard.org.au for information on companion cards.

Children Rules

Admittance at the Melbourne Cricket Ground will not be charged in general admission areas for children under the age of 6 for Cricket Victoria(CV) cricket matches and Australian Football League (AFL) matches. During AFL Finals, children 3 & under are admitted free of charge. Free entry for children for other events will be decided in conjunction with the event promoter. Children under the age of 2 sitting in a reserved seat area must have a valid seat ticket if they are not seated on the lap of their parent or guardian. During AFL Finals, children 3 and under are admitted free of charge but must sit on the lap of their parent/guardian. Children 6 and under are admitted free into the Members Reserve for all events.

Miscellaneous

STADIUM ACCESS ENTRANCE Public access to the Great Southern Stand is via either gates 4 or 5. Public access to the Ponsford Stand is via gate 1. Public access to the Olympic Stand is via gate 3. Access to the AFL Members Reserve is via gates 6 & 7. (Gate 7 during cricket season). Access to the MCC Members Reserve is via gate 2. Although there are steps directly in front of Gate 5, access can be obtained by using the graduated walkway in front of gate 4. Access to gate 1 is via Rod Laver Arena footbridge or ramp on the corner of Jolimont Street and Jolimont Terrace. SMOKING POLICY The Melbourne Cricket Ground has been a smoke-free venue since the 1999 AFL football season. Internal bars and dining rooms have been smoke-free at the MCG for some years but smoking is now banned in all parts of the ground. This includes all outdoor seating areas and internal roadways. Pass-outs will be issued at a number of gates throughout the day or evening. In accordance with MCG regulations patrons may be asked to leave the ground if they ignore the ban. These arrangements basically apply whenever patrons pay to enter the ground or on occasions such as an open day when large crowds are expected. PROHIBITED ITEMS For the comfort, safety and enjoyment of all patrons, staff and event participants, and/or pursuant to MCG Regulations and the Major Events (Crowd Management) Act 2003 (Vic) the following items are not permitted into the MCG: Alcohol, opened soft drink containers, cans, glass, torn-up paper, musical instruments, whistles, flags with handles exceeding 1.8 metres, fireworks, flares, laser lights, chairs / stools, rollerblades, skateboards, scooters, animals (guide and hearing animals may enter), audio recording equipment, video cameras, any large article that cannot be placed under a seat and any device that in the opinion of Melbourne Cricket Club management has the potential to cause injury or public nuisance. Patrons are not permitted to open umbrellas anywhere within the viewing areas of the MCG whilst there is activity on the arena. This policy has been introduced to ensure that all patrons have an unobstructed view of the arena. This policy will be enforced at all events regardless of the crowd size. Anyone caught short of protective gear on a rainy day can purchase disposable plastic ponchos at most catering outlets. All bags are subject to inspection and patrons will be refused admission with prohobited items, and there is no cloaking facilities for these items. PASS OUTS Pass outs are available from gates as marked, for most events. Patrons must show their entry ticket to obtain a pass out. Both the pass out and entry ticket must be shown for re-entry. Patrons may not take alcohol out of the stadium. UNDERCOVER SEATING Whilst a large amount of the stadium is covered, no ticket is sold on the basis of being undercover due to variable weather conditions. GENERAL ADMISSION General Admission can be purchased at the gate, subject to availability. CONDITIONS OF ENTRY Melbourne Cricket Club management reserves the right to refuse entryNo representations are made that there is seating availablePatrons are admitted to the stadium at their own risk. Patrons may be requested to present their bags for inspection. Persons entering the arena without prior authorisation will be liable for prosecution. Security cameras operate at this stadium, patrons may be filmed. Melbourne Cricket Club will not be held responsible for any damages to, loss or theft of a patron*s personal property. Seats retract automatically, check your seat before you sit down. Umbrellas cannot be raised in seating areas whilst any activity is taking place on the arena. Alcoholic beverages may not be taken into or from the MCG. Smoking is not permitted within the MCG or within the designated smoke-free areas outside the stadium. Patrons causing a disturbance or refusing to comply with requests from MCC staff or their representatives may be evicted from the stadium. Some areas of the MCG are exposed to direct sunlight and heat. Patrons are required to take appropriate care for their sun protection and hydration.
