  • EV display MLB

by EVGeek on 6/7/25Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre - MelbourneRating: 5 out of 5

With a large number of high-quality EVs on display and the ability to talk to the vendors as well as being able to see, feel and touch each of the cars, all within the convention centre, makes it easier to get a full perspective of the cars. The live presentations by the well-renowned speakers were incredibly informative and provided some really interesting views on sustainable energy and the adoption of Electric Vehicles not only in Australia but worldwide. I spent the entire day getting to know all the facts about the cars that I liked. Additionally, there were many very interesting stalls ranging from Noveated-Lease finance solutions to EV training tools and equipment for future car mechanics. All round a great day and a great show.

  • waste of time

I visited there on Sunday with a few friends. The place was almost empty, and no car agency seemed willing to invest time in walking visitors around. It felt like a total waste of money, with a very staged atmosphere—no handouts or outreach, just a forced show. On the plus side, Chinese EVs are pressuring other top car manufacturers to develop better vehicles.

  • Talks great, vehicle displays disappointing

by RA on 29/6/25Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre - MelbourneRating: 3 out of 5

It would have been 1 star if not for the great panels. I went Saturday and spent much of my time listening to the great panel discussions. Great talks, good audience questions and accessibility to speakers. Was good to see Tom, Riz and Electric Viking in person. But the amount of cars and the way they were displayed was a let down. I get the Melb car show was not that long before, so manufacturers had to make a choice. Most disappointed though with Zeekr. No 7x but instead the 001 that's not even coming to Australia. I get there aren't any RHD versions yet but they displayed a LHD 001 regardless. Really disappointing. Also MG didn't have their IM brand despite them soon to being available. Maybe offer a digital only option where you can watch all the discussions from home and not feel disappointed by lack of actual vehicles. As someone about to buy an EV it was really sad the lack of representation by automakers. Given the level of interest at the show, I suspect some brands lost dale's opportunities. Big shout out though to KIA, Polestar, BYD and Xpeng for having full line-up available, particularly Xpeng for having the P7+, which likely stole potential sales from Zeekr by showcasing upcoming models and full complement of staff.
