About One Night With You
ELVIS ONE NIGHT WITH YOU
THE STUDIO SESSIONS: FROM SUN RECORDS TO ELVIS PRESLEY BOULEVARD
The night was late, the studio almost empty. The moment would make history. On the evening of July 5, 1954, a teenaged truck driver named Elvis Presley stepped up to the microphone at Sun Records in the heart of Memphis, Tennessee, and conjured a sound that gave producer Sam Phillips chills.
Within days, that lightning-in-a-bottle moment would electrify Memphis, with the world to follow. The fateful recording of That's All Right was the first of countless moments of magic that would yield one of history's most cherished and explosive song catalogues over 25 years of sessions in New York, Hollywood, Nashville, Las Vegas, Hawaii … and Graceland.
To celebrate 80 years of Elvis, ONE NIGHT WITH YOU: THE STUDIO SESSIONS showcases the man whose peerless skills as a recording artist galvanised rock'n'roll and made him one of the biggest stars of stage and screen the world has ever seen.
In the centre spotlight is the incomparable ANDY STANKOVICH, whose uncanny vocal talent has stunned even Presley's own original backing group, the Jordanaires. Andy will channel Elvis Presley's renowned vocal genius in the studio, a world that was as much his stage as Hollywood sets and the showrooms of Vegas.
An instinctive performer, producer, arranger and bandleader, Presley's revolutionary studio craft is legend. With his trademark immersion in the heart of a lyric and unrestrained physicality, his innate musical passion was the spark that ignited Blue Suede Shoes and It’s Now or Never and Suspicious Minds.
From lean rockabilly, blues and country to swooning orchestral ballads and soaring gospel, each phase of his unsurpassed songbook will be revisited.
Experience every key recording session of Elvis' remarkable career as they are brought to life in the majestic surrounds of Auckland's Civic Theatre. Follow the boy from Tupelo's rise to stardom with historic footage, full concert sound and spectacular lighting.
