Sheffield’s finest makes his first visit to Sydney. Richard Hawley’s music mines a rich seam of Americana yet retains his English origins, evoking the ghosts of Roy Orbison, Johnny Cash and Frank Sinatra alongside Bert Jansch, Joe Meek and Dusty Springfield. 

A recipient of Brit Award and Mercury Prize nominations, and winner of Mojo’s Album of the Year, Hawley is also much in-demand as a collaborator, working with Nancy Sinatra, Elbow, Paul Weller, Shirley Bassey and Pulp. His seventh and latest album, Standing at the Sky’s Edge, balances the lugubrious crooning and spectral songwriting he is renowned for with incandescent garage-psych displaying his matchless skills as a guitarist.
