Internationally recognized author and spoken word artist Shane Koyczan is coming to Australia for a highly anticipated tour this May!
Koyczan has emerged as a creator of poetry that dares to belong to the people and speak directly to them in their own voice. In 2013, he collaborated with animators to make the anti-bullying viral video “To This Day” which has had over 13 million views. In 2013, he performed to acclaim at the International TED Conference in Long Beach, California. And in 2010, wowed the audeince at the Opening Ceremony of the Winter Olympics. His first published collection of poems, Visiting Hours, was the only work of poetry selected by both the Guardian and the Globe and Mail for their Best Books of the Year lists in 2005. Koyczan has since gone on to publish Stickboy and Our Deathbeds will be Thirsty, with Stickboy now being turned into an opera which will premiere in Vancouver later this year.
Koyczan has received 5 star reviews for his performances around the globe. Winner of the US Slam Poetry Championship and the Canadian Spoken Word Olympics, Koyczan is truly an extraordinary talent that has blown the dust off of the traditional designation “poet”.
