About

Influenced by avant-garde jazz, alternative rock, and hardcore rap, American singer/songwriter SZA has become one of the most seminal voices in modern R&B, a genre-blurring force akin to contemporaries such as Jorja Smith, Solange, H.E.R., Kehlani and Brent Faiyaz.

The five-time Grammy Award nominee first entered the scene in 2012 with the critically-acclaimed EP, “See.SZA.Run”, consecutively followed by ‘Sand Z’ to rave reviews. Her major-label debut record “Ctrl” helped SZA score the most nominations of any female artist at the 2018 Grammy awards. Certified RIAA Platinum, the record deservingly landed #1 on Billboard’s R&B Albums chat, #2 on the R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart and #3 on the Billboard 200 chart – revered for its law and honest lyricism by fans and media alike. Locally, “Ctrl” tracks ‘Love Galore’ ft. Travis Scott achieved platinum certification whilst ‘The Weekend’ claiming gold status certification.

SZA’s polished artistry and songwriting talents extend far beyond her own projects having wrote and performed on Rihanna’s single ‘Consideration’ and in 2014, SZA helped write Nicki Minaj and Beyonce’s smash single ‘Feelin Myself’. Her collaboration with Kendrick Lamar on “All The Stars” for the 2018 blockbuster film Black Panther, garnered more than 20 nominations, including ‘Best Original Song’ at the Golden Globe Awards, along with ‘Song of the Year’, ‘Best Rap/Sung Performance’, ‘Best Song Written for Visual Media’ and ‘Record of the Year’ at this year’s Grammy Awards.

In 2018, SZA made her Australian debut with a single SOLD OUT Sydney show and left local audiences craving more. SZA’s return for this year’s Splendour In The Grass is complimented by three massive headline shows including a debut to Perth audiences, kicking off at HBF Stadium on Wednesday, July 17.
