About

Touring in celebration of his 21st studio album DEFIANT, Australia's heart of rock n roll, Jimmy Barnes, will take to the stage with his 9-piece band for his DEFIANT TOUR in June 2025.

Jimmy said, “I’m really looking forward to getting back on stage with my band again. I’m so proud of this new record – all the songs mean a lot to me and I can’t wait to share them with you.  It’s going to be some serious fun!”

Never one to slow down, Jimmy Barnes has always been a fighter...the son of a Scottish boxing champion, a survivor of a violent childhood and was once part of an Adelaide band who battled tooth and claw for six years, so it’s only fitting his new album and tour is appropriately DEFIANT.  Having notched up an unprecedented 21 #1’s on the Australian album charts (15 as a solo artist and 6 with Cold Chisel), the DEFIANT TOUR follows Cold Chisel’s triumphant The Big Five-O anniversary 2024 tour, and sees Jimmy hitting the road with his 9-piece band as he brings his DEFIANT album to life.

The first taste of the album being released tomorrow is the double-single ‘New Day’ , including the accompanying music video directed by Paul van Kan starring Troy Cassar-Daley and Laurel Edwards and ‘Beyond the River Bend’ – inspired by the Barnes’ family home in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales where “hope keeps flowing like water”. It’s a thread which weaves through this music as it does through Jimmy’s life.

These are clearly the songs of a man who still has a point to prove: raw and inspiring. And he is in career-best voice – riding and driving an emotional rollercoaster from soothing croons to wailing abandon. They are the sounds of a singer who has finally arrived at the point of complete instrumental control.

Have like almost everyone been the biggest Jimmy Barnes fan, and this being the first time that I had the chance to see him live. With all that he has been through over the last few years, you most certainly couldn’t know it!! He was awesome, voice still the same and still moved around the floor ! I love more than anything that his family are all part of his band and are all fantastic!! So special 😀

Legendary show both Jimmy and the band were fantastic. It was great to hear most of his new songs too and he played some of the awesome oldies too . The State theatre also is a fantastic place to see a show with the beautiful architecture and the sound in there is great too . Always love seeing a show here .

  • State Theatre smashed

by BA on 30/6/25State Theatre - SydneyRating: 5 out of 5

Jimmy absolutely smashed the State Theatre with a killer live performance of a large selection of his new Defiant Album and many older classics. Highlight of the night was a "Flame Tree's"duet with his beautiful Grand Daughter Ruby and some old faves like "Ride the Night Away"and "Love is Enough". At 69 Jimmy is still singing and performing harder and better than ever. Rock on Barnesy!

  • A Great Australian Night.

by Conny on 28/6/25State Theatre - SydneyRating: 5 out of 5

A great evening of tremendous Australian rock. The state theatre is a fantastic venue. The staff are extremely knowledgeable and organised. The night began with Taylor Sheridan who performed some originals with some good stories to go with the songs. Jimmy came out with a bang as he always does. Great mix of some of his classics and tracks from his excellent new album, Defiant. The musicians that accompanied him were outstanding. To cap it off Jimmy performed some Cold Chisel classics. Really enjoyed the night.

  • Unforgettable night of Aussie rock and soul

by DonnaH on 22/6/25The Fortitude Music Hall - BrisbaneRating: 5 out of 5

Jimmy Barnes delivered an absolutely incredible performance at the Fortitude Music Hall last night. From the moment he stepped on stage, the energy was electric. His voice was powerful, the band was tight, and the crowd was loving every moment. It was amazing to hear the classics live, along with some newer songs that still packed a punch. The venue was a great fit—intimate yet big enough to hold the atmosphere. A true Aussie legend doing what he does best!
