Radio Soulwax is the apocalyptic rave up that Belgian dance music svengalis Soulwax have been curating at various venues around the world in the last year.
The mobile club night sees genres and inhibitions cast to the junk heap and replaced by a wave of ecstatic light and sound, with a combination of live bands and DJs, at the centre of which sit Soulwax, in Nite Versions form, and lords of the dance 2manyDJs. In March, this night of disco drama comes to Australia for the first time, not only with the Nite Versions show, a set of souped up dancefloor versions of their most recent record, Any Minute Now, and sets from 2manyDJs, but also a cast of Soulwax alumni and local talent.
Alongside their performances at the V Festival in Sydney & the Gold Coast, Soulwax will be partying down with the likes of New Young Pony Club, Rub N Tug, Bang Gang DJs, Gildas & Masaya from revered French label Kitsune, Riot In Belgium, The Valentinos and Modular DJs at various stops around the country.
Nite Versions is the title of the reworked, club ready revision of Any Minute Now, self produced and mixed by Soulwax at home in Ghent as more of a bangin live extravaganza, like a techno set played completely live, with the energy, peaks and troughs of a club set but with guitars, bass, drums and keys. Alongside this, Soulwax brains and brothers Stephen and Dave Dawaele AKA 2 Many DJs will be doing what they've become so renowned for, that is burning the rulebook and playing the greatest storm of a party DJ set going around.
New Young Pony Club return to Australia after only two dates in December to support the Radio Soulwax touring circus on the East Coast, along with NYC's finest mavericks of the history of disco old and new Rub N Tug, Gildas And Masaya of the irreverently hip French label Kitsune, fake European bang brothers Riot In Belgium, Sydney master blasters The Valentinos, and the anonymously suave Modular DJs.
