Concerts don’t get any better than this
by Leela on 26/2/25Rating: 5 out of 5I liked the Coldplay concert so much that I went to it 8 times in Sydney and Melbourne. Even though the songs were the same, with a subtle swap here and there, each show felt so personal to the crowd that night, like it was tailored just for that group of people. I think this was because Chris just seems like the most genuinely decent humanbeing and band frontman to exist. He understands the audience so well. Over the 8 shows, I observed from a different viewpoint each night from barricade all the way to nosebleeds and I can say that Chris, Guy, Johnny and Will (and Phil) really give their best every single night to make sure everyone is having fun and feeling love. Theres no bad seat. In Melbourne, I had a unique experience of watching one of the concerts from a balcony that overlooked into the stadium, and hearing a crowd of 60,000 people singing “fix you” along with the band from a birds view is a life highlight for me. It was the most special thing I’ve ever seen and heard. Hearing the reverb echo up from the stadium and into my apartment was something I’ll never be able to properly explain. Anytime I’m sad I think of that moment and It just turns my mood around as I feel so grateful to live in this silly little world. And I think that’s what the band hopes that you get from their concert, just love and appreciation for each other and our world. Any seat at this concert is worth any price it costs. It’s like therapy. Also something interesting I didn’t know but observed from having a view into the stadium is that over the four nights in Melb, the band would be in the stadium basically from lunchtime until the show started at almost 9pm. They do so much extra stuff to check everything is set up and working correctly themselves. I always naively thought that the crew did everything and the band would rock up to do sound check and then leave after an hour and come back later. Not Coldplay, of course they have a massive amazing!!! crew that does so much but also they too were so involved in checking all afternoon that everything was working right. Especially Will and Chris I saw them heaps walking around and checking things.
